What is unpaid duty? DDU is an old Incoterm, which means that the seller safely delivers the goods to the designated location, and bears all shipping costs and all risks. Once the goods arrive at the agreed location, the buyer is responsible for import duties and subsequent shipping costs. However, a completed delivery (DDP) says that the seller has to pay duties, import clearance, and all taxes.

Advantages and disadvantages of non- taxable delivery (DDU) Delivery The biggest advantage of DDU is that it allows buyers to better grasp the delivery process. Tighter control of the process is critical for global buyers who want to maintain a consistent flow of inventory. For example, it is often simpler to control costs and track shipments during the shipment of DDUs than DDPs. The buyer is of course more familiar with the customs of the country. From the seller's point of view, DDU shipping provides more means for the destination country to develop more "hands-off" shipping rules. The seller is solely responsible for transporting the goods to the destination, while the buyer can resolve all legal disputes.Of course, DDU shipping also has its downsides. The biggest problem for buyers is that unexpected duties or taxes will occur when their products arrive. Obviously, this can have a big negative impact on buyers. But it also makes little sense for the shipper, because the customer will refuse to pay for the required goods.
